Cup focus on Merseyside; plus, keeping our goodwill thoughts focused on The Director

The top story of the FA Cup 4th Round is Liverpool hosting Everton in three weeks. That'll come less than a week after the derby at Anfield on Monday, Jan. 19. It'll be a tense one, and in anticipation of it, let's look back at the famous 1991 fifth-round replay from Goodison. The sound here is dreadfully quiet, but it's 3:40 of goals, nothing more. That's right, 3 minutes and 40 seconds of goals (with replays). John Barnes' right-footed curler off the far post from the wing is particularly tasty.

Also, the news from this past weekend, as far as Liverpool is concerned, is those seven stitches in Alonso's foot. Let's all cross our fingers, pray, meditate, group hug and otherwise simply wish all the best for Xabi Alonso: The Director, and those seven stitches in his foot. If we all pool our positive vibes, thoughts, karma and wishes, I fully believe we can limit the damage to merely that deep cut into his foot and nothing more.

Oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please, oh please let that be it.
